Keweenaw Pride is including MDOT in its local charity works now. Our first day on the job was a bit snowy, but its a fun little way to help keep the Keweenaw Clean!

It's a game show styled exercise in which the audience is challenged to guess the correct sexual orientation of a panel of students, faculty & staff. The panel will provide information about themselves, as well as answer any questions the audience has. Join us for a night of questioning sexuality and questioning stereotypes.
Wednesday April 9th: The Ally Toolbox (Discussion/Workshop)

This discussion based workshop will provide an open forum for straight allies to build their toolbox of ways to deal with homophobia & continue to advocate for gay, lesbian, bisexual & Transgender rights.
Thursday April 10th: Short Films including 'Paragraph 175'

Actor Rupert Everett provides the narration for this disquieting documentary that shines a light on the Third Reich's vicious persecution of male homosexuals during World War II. The title comes from an arcane, 1871 German statute making sodomy punishable by incarceration (with the ultimate goal to eradicate gays completely). Only a handful of survivors -- now frail and withered -- remain to recount their traumatic tales in this poignant film.

This year's MBLGTACC (Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Ally, College Conference) was held at the University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign. The conference's purpose is to encourage and promote diversity, activism and network development among LGBTQA students, staff and faculty throughout the regional Midwest. The conference, created by students for students, serves as an open forum for education and awareness of issues that affect the LGBTQA community.
One accomplishment of this year's conference was the creation of a collaborative Michigan Organization of GLBTQA campus groups; the Michigan Campus Alliance. This group will provide a platform for communication and collaboration for a unified force for equality & social change.

MTUs Job Fair is Tuesday February 19th from 9:00am - 4:00pm.
As students are searching for internships, jobs, or co-ops, one important decision factor is how GLBT inclusive their company is. many companies have submitted their information on whether their non-discrimination policy includes sexual orientation & gender identity, and information on whether they provide same-sex partner benefits.
This sign will be at company tables to display their level of GLBT inclusiveness.
