NCOD: Chalking Circle October 10th, Coming Out Stories October 13th
03 10 2008National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is a day celebrated each year, to mark the important point in every Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally person's life: Coming Out. It is technically on October 11th, but that is the weekend this year so we are having the events on the Friday before and Monday after.
Each year, Keweenaw Pride creates a chalking circle by the MUB, so that those who are comfortable in their sexuality can come sign and show their support for the community.
We implore all to come and take part; you don't have to be GLBT to come out, our Allies are terribly important to us regardless of how actively they support the community (though we do love the avid supporters a lot!)
Along with this, we are entreating people to wear red shirts all day, to create a visible presence of those who support the day and may or may not be able to come sign the circle.
And last but not least, on Monday the 13th, we will be having a Coming Out Story discussion in the DHH studylounge/ballroom. Students will be telling their stories in a relaxed atmosphere, open to questions and
comments of those who attend. And once again, Allies will also be telling their stories.
CHALKING CIRCLE: October 11th, ALL DAY, MUB CIRCLE
COMING OUT DISCUSSION: October 13th, 7:00 pm to ??? DHH Ballroom
(In case of Rain...IT WON'T RAIN!...the chalking will be inside Fisher with markers on paper.)
